Today I went to Newark Air museum. It was a reasonably good day. They had LOADS of planes there…Everything from a Vulcan Bomber to a Harrier, to a Gazelle Helicopter. They also had plenty of bombs and war-time relics. Enough to make the buffs happy. Whilst there I spent the grand total of 50p, to board a Shacklands. A war-time bomber that had been converted into a reconnaissance plane. Over all, a very interesting and unusual day! Just wish we could go back to Duxford Air Museum…
The atmosphere there though was definitely…odd. There was barely anyone there. And of course the war-time planes gave it an “abandoned air-field" feel. Reminded me of the 1940’s/50’s/60’s when times were better and more interesting. And money wasn’t so much of an issue. But, ah well…times change. Now all jets are just big computers.
